NCAA Basketball: #6 Michigan State  vs #1 Duke (-11)

If the magic fairy dust hadn’t been sprinkled onto the shoulders of the Butler Bulldogs for last year’s NCAA Tournament, we might have seen the Michigan State Spartans facing off against Duke in the title game.

Tonight the Spartans get their chance.

Unfortunately for MSU, they are going to get a Duke Blue Devils team that’s fifth in the nation in points per game. They are also going to get a Duke Blue Devils team that will playing on its home court. The odds are in Duke’s favor to keep its undefeated record in-tact.

While the Devils will likely get the win tonight, the 11-point spread could be a bit much for Duke to cover against a solid team — even at home. Duke has failed to cover the spread once already this season in a 5-point win against a defensive-minded team from Marquette.

Both Kalin Lucas and Draymond Green will be the sparks that keep Michigan State close from tip-off to the final buzzer. The only question about the Spartans tonight is whether they can eliminate the turnovers issue that has haunted them at times this season.

It’s a given that Duke’s olympian coach will have the team ready for the big game. Last year taught us one thing about Michigan State as well. You can count on Tom Izzo to have Michigan State ready too. Look for Duke to win and Michigan State to cover.

Pick: Take Michigan State (+11)
