Bryan Albin’s College Football Games of the Week
1. #1 Alabama (-7.5, -110) @ # 10 Arkansas (+7.5, -110)
Saturday September 25th 3:30 PM ET
If there is only one game you can watch this Saturday, make sure you park a seat on your couch at 3:30 to check out the action from Fayetteville. This matchup has everything a college football fan could ask for. Last year’s Heisman winner Mark Ingram and the national power that is Alabama vs. the up and comers in Arkansas, led by a quarterback who will be well on his way to winning the Heisman if the Razorbacks can win this game en route to an SEC West title. Arkansas QB Ryan Mallett is the real deal folks. At 6′6”, with a cannon of an arm and the ability to fool defenses with his play action fakes, Mallett has NFL scouts salivating. Then last week, he showed a winner’s mentality by orchestrating a game winning 76 yard drive with less than a minute to play to keep the Razorbacks undefeated on the road against Georgia.
Unfortunately for the Razorbacks, they are running into the hottest team in the nation. Alabama has won 17 straight games and it has not been even close to challenged so far in 2010. Ingram in his first action of season needed only one quarter to amass 100 rushing yards against Duke. This will be a tough test for Alabama though, as it will be the first hostile road environment it plays in this year, and Arkansas has the type of passing game that could cause trouble for what is still an inexperienced secondary. If the Crimson Tide can prevent Mallett and WR Greg Childs from hurting them downfield, they ought to win comfortably.
